So Oppo, I have started my bachelor end project today and I thought you guys might be interested. I will be doing my project on battery cell state of health(SoH), which will mostly be done from an automotive/electrical point of view. This means I will be developing and coding a battery test setup, which can be used by our university’s formula student team to test the health of their battery cells, and to see how many cycles the cell has remaining. Furthermore the way in which the batteries are tested also is kinda relevant to all other electric cars since a lot in the field of battery SoH and state of charge are based on guesstimations.

Have a render of the car the team is building this year for your time.

I’m very interested, and look forward to what you come up with. Good luck!

I saw these two in the basement of the new engineering building addition.

The cars are neat, the addition is a mess.

As far as I know the only real way to do it is coulomb and cycle counting electronics. You can’t just attach it when you want a result, it has to be there from the battery’s manufacture. Are you coming up with some way to just look at a single charge/discharge profile and derive that information?

Something doesn’t look right about those front wing endplates, do they violate the front wing envelope in the Aero rules?

I don’t actually know those rules, since i have just joined the team for my project. Although I suppose the designers have kept to the rules.

I’m planning to estimate the health of the cells by running serveral cycles and by this determining the remaining capacity and the impedance of the cell. If I then compare those to a new cell and to a dead cell I should be able to say something about the health of the tested cell.
